Texas Critter Crusaders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to filling the unmet needs of stray and abandoned companion animals in our community. Established in April 2016, we are a small, dedicated and growing organization. Our primary focus is helping the animals at the Taylor, Texas Animal Shelter. Our goal is to supplement the limited resources of Taylor’s municipal shelter through fundraising, volunteer work and donation drives, and to provide quick assistance to the animals when they need it. The Taylor Animal Shelter, like most municipal shelters, only budgets enough for spay/neuter and vaccines for the animals in their care. Texas Critter Crusaders with funding from donors, fundraisers, and grants are on standby ready to help animals that enter the Taylor Animal Shelter with heartworm disease, broken bones, trauma, tumors, etc. helping the animals to recover and live happy, healthy lives while waiting for their adoptive families. Recently the Texas Critter Crusaders has expanded its services to include owned animals within Taylor and the surrounding communities. We offer spay and neuter assistance to individuals that can’t afford the cost of alteration. We work closely with the Animal Control Officer at the Taylor Animal Shelter to help identify those in need. We also recently started a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program within the community. We’ve received two grants to help us get the program started. TNR has proven to be the most humane option in curbing feral cat overpopulation in communities. Shadow Cats in Round Rock has pledged to support our efforts continually through their One Life Fund and individual sponsors through their TNR program. We also offer free micro chipping to citizens of Taylor and the surrounding communities. To date we have micro chipped 355 animals through our free microchip clinics!
